Lightning Eliminators & Consultants Dissipation Array™ System to be Featured on Weather Channel Documentary “Hacking the Planet”

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lightning Eliminators & Consultants, Inc. (LEC), the leading supplier of integrated lightning protection and lightning prevention products, solutions and services, today announced its flagship product, the Dissipation Array™ System (DAS™) will be featured in an episode of the new Weather Channel documentary series “Hacking the Planet.” The episode is scheduled to air March 14, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET.

The series covers ways science is being used to hack natural events, including hurricanes, tornadoes and lightning. In the episode, science writer, editor and lecturer John Rennie visits Mountain Village in Telluride, Colo. The Rocky Mountain ski resort hosts millions of visitors each year, and lightning is a serious threat to the resort’s lift system, which doubles as a year-round public transit system.

Lightning Protection

Operators of the resort called on LEC to install its DAS atop each ski tower along the gondola system. The patented charge transfer technology has a nearly perfect record of preventing direct lightning strikes within the protected area.

“In addition to interesting content, The Weather Channel is providing a service to the public by raising awareness of effective products like our DAS.”

“Recognizing what can be done about the potentially costly threat lightning poses to facilities of all sorts is vitally important for those looking for ways to protect themselves and their assets,” said Avram Saunders, president and CEO, LEC. “In addition to interesting content, The Weather Channel is providing a service to the public by raising awareness of effective products like our DAS.”
